Tigers purchased the contract of 1B-DH Brad Eldred from Triple-A Toledo. Tigers manager Jim Leyland indicated that he plans on playing Brad Eldred regularly in the DH slot. "We have the hottest hitter in all of minor league baseball," Leyland said. "I'm going to DH him. How long depends on how he does. He's doing something everyone is talking about. Maybe he can get us going." Eldred was batting .388 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI over 80 at-bats for Triple-A Toledo. He's worth an add in AL-only leagues to see if he can stay hot, but the 31-year-old Eldred has a .204 batting average and 103 strikeouts over 260 at-bats in the majors, so there's no long-term value here. Playing Eldred at DH would put Delmon Young in left field regularly and Andy Dirks on the bench.
