The team plans on giving Smoak a majority of the work at first base following the suspension of Chris Colabello, Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
For the most part, Smoak was giving way to Colabello with lefties on the hill before the suspension. Even with Edwin Encarnacion and Matt Dominguez capable of filling the void, it sounds like the switch-hitting Smoak will take on most left-handers going forward. The first baseman is worthy of a roster spot in many formats simply by virtue of the volume of at-bats he's schedule to get the Jays' explosive offense.
