Tepesch signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, John Blake of the Texas Rangers reports.

Tepesch was non-tendered earlier this offseason after sitting out all of 2015 with an elbow issue. Tepesch's most recent bout in the majors was in 2014 with Texas, where he posted a 5-11 record with a 4.36 ERA in 22 starts. He'll likely compete for the fifth spot in the Rangers rotation in spring training if he is healthy, although the position may be a short-term opening with Yu Darvish expected to return to the rotation in May.
