Stubbs was designated for assignment Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Carlos Gomez's activation Thursday, the club needed to clear space on the roster and Stubbs became the casualty. The 31-year-old has missed a large portion of the season with a toe injury and has thus been limited to just 39 games at the big league level in 2016, where he's slashed a combined .259/.343/.414 with the Braves and Rangers. He could be a candidate to rejoin the major league roster as outfield depth when rosters expand.
