In the fifth inning, Stauffer relieved starter Odrisamer Despaigne, setting down the side following a leadoff single. However, Stauffer wasn't as crisp in the sixth, when the Cardinals placed runners at second and third. With two outs, he gave up a two-run double to Matt Carpenter, bumping up the right-hander's ERA to 3.86 on the season. Expect Stauffer to continue pitching in low-leverage situations, especially if his walk rate, currently sitting at 4.04 BB/9, doesn't turn around.
