Smyly (shoulder) will begin sock tosses Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Smyly continues to rehab a minor tear in his labrum, and this is the first step toward throwing an actual baseball. There's a chance Smyly could return later this season, but he may have to sit out the rest of the year with the goal of being ready for Opening Day in 2016.
