The Jays wanted to deploy Troy Tulowitzki as the DH Thursday, so Edwin Encarnacion moved over to first base, leaving Smoak as the odd man out. Getting on base has not been Smoak's strong suit this season, but he has two home runs in his last four games and his .227 ISO is his highest mark in six years in the big leagues.
