Scherzer (12-7) pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk while striking out 10 Indians in Tuesday's loss.
EDGE Analysis
Scherzer sat down the first 14 batters he faced and took a no-hitter into the seventh Tuesday before things came undone. With one out in the seventh he allowed his two runs on three consecutive hits to drop his first game since July 4. The right-hander has now logged six consecutive quality starts to lower his ERA 2.80, its lowest mark since his first start of 2016 back on April 4. Scherzer's 10 K's against the Indians gave him the MLB lead with 208 on the year, and marked his five straight season of 200-plus strikeouts.
