Santana (6-9) threw seven shutout innings Tuesday, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six Atlanta hitters and earning the win.
EDGE Analysis
Santana entered Tuesday with extra rest due to his previous start being cut short by rain, and it may well have helped, as he pitched brilliantly. Santana has been on a roll lately, having thrown four straight quality starts prior to last week's abbreviated outing, and posting a 1.77 ERA since the beginning of July. While Santana's strikeout rate is down somewhat this year, fanning 99 over 133.2 innings, his ERA and WHIP are a solid 3.43 and 1.21 respectively. He'll look to continue his success against the Royals on Sunday.
