Sandoval has lost 20-22 pounds this winter, according to manager John Farrell, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like Sandoval has committed to improving his physical fitness as he enters Year 2 of a five-year, $95 million pact with Boston, but we won't be able to see the fruits of his labor until Grapefruit League play begins. The 29-year-old's biggest issue last year was against left-handed pitching, as he posted a sub-.500 OPS against southpaws with zero home runs. His fantasy stock is down significantly from a year ago as a result, but Sandoval is locked in as the Red Sox's primary third baseman entering camp.
