Sanchez logged five innings Thursday in Game 1 of the Tigers' doubleheader, allowing just one run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
He did allow one home run -- the major flaw throughout his career -- but half of the batted-balls he yielded were grounders. Buck Farmer had taken Sanchez's rotation spot Wednesday, but maybe this will help the veteran work back into Detroit's good graces. With such little time left in the regular season, however, that may not matter much to many fantasy players. Despite an impressive 8.06 K/9 and 1.84 BB/9 after the All-Star break, Sanchez holds an atrocious 5.90 ERA on the year. The 32-year-old has one season left on his deal with Detroit yet might not crack the starting five next year.
