EDGE Analysis
It was an atypical performance in a couple of aspects for Ross, who came into the game with a microscopic 0.26 HR/9 rate, making the way he gave up the runs particularly surprising. The 28-year-old had last surrendered a gopher ball against these very same Rockies in an Aug. 14 start, the only long ball hit against him during the entire month of August. His propensity for handing out free passes was also notably absent on Thursday, as the right-hander turned in his first walk-free outing since a July 23rd appearance against the Marlins. Moreover, Ross had only given up one homer at Petco Park prior to the trio of round-trippers he yielded on Thursday.
