Rodney has not earned back the closer job despite closing Sunday's game for his 16th save of the season, the Seattle Times reports. Manager Lloyd McClendon said he went to Rodney instead of Carson Smith because of matchups. McClendon continues to insist that he wants Rodney to regain the job full time, but as long as the committee approach continues to work, there doesn't seem to be much reason for the Mariners to change course.
