Rockies manager Walt Weiss is toying around with the idea of batting the pitcher eighth, in which case LeMahieu would bat ninth. Though it would give LeMahieu fewer plate appearances, it would also let him hit directly in front of the Rockies' top of the order, rather than the pitcher, which could lead to more run-scoring opportunities.
