Quintana allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in 6.2 innings of work Wednesday to take his ninth loss of the season. Quintana had actually thrown 6.1 scoreless innings to start the game, but the floodgates opened after a controversial call at the plate resulted in a seven-run seventh (four of which were charged to Quintana). Quintana is enjoying the best season of his three-year career (126 ERA+, 3.14 ERA, 21.2 percent K-rate), but it looks like he will fall short of 10 wins yet again thanks to a creaky bullpen and inconsistent offense.
