Prado is likely done for the season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports. Losing Prado, who is hitting .433 in 30 August at-bats, is a tough blow, but as of Tuesday morning the Yankees are 6.0 games back in the race for the second AL Wild Card spot and stand little chance of making up that ground with only 13 games remaining. With Prado likely on the shelf for the next two weeks, Stephen Drew, Zelous Wheeler and Brendan Ryan could each see additional playing time.
