Posey went 2-for-6 with two walks, a double, two RBI and a run scored in Monday's 14-inning win over Miami. He did take an awkward slide into third base and appeared to injure his finger, but he stayed in the game.
EDGE Analysis
Posey had a solid day at the plate and a great game behind the dish -- throwing out Dee Gordon in the 10th inning -- but his lone blemish was an ugly slide that saw him go face first into third base. Aside from the cosmetic injuries to his face, Posey jammed his finger on the slide. He was able to stay in the game, so it appears that he avoided serious injury, but the Giants had already exhausted their backup catching options, so Posey may have stayed in the game out of necessity. Check back to see if he is in Tuesday's starting lineup, as he may be given a day of rest after the extra-inning game as well as to let his finger fully heal.
