Phelps has left Triple-A Norfolk and will be recalled Wednesday if the Orioles place Manny Machado on the disabled list, MASN Sports reports. Phelps will backup the third base position and could even see a start since Ryan Flaherty will fill in at shortstop for J.J. Hardy. Phelps was likely chosen as the callup because he can play third base, shortstop, second base and the corner outfield spots. He is hitting .258/.368/.431 at Triple-A this season, showing good plate discipline with 50 walks and 59 strikeouts. Phelps played in 53 games for the Indians from 2011 - 2013.
