Pearce (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Pearce had to be helped off the field in the ninth inning of Monday's tilt, and though the exact nature of the ailment remains unclear, it's apparently serious enough to force him out for at least two weeks. Despite going 0-for-12 over the last three games, the 33-year-old had been on a tear in June, slashing .380/.404/.560 on the month. He's currently without a precise timetable, but Jaff Decker and Taylor Motter appear to be in line to see increased playing time for however long Pearce remains sidelined.
