Orioles optioned OF Xavier Avery to Triple-A Norfolk. He was likely cleared to make room for Endy Chavez, who is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday. Avery is hitting .233/.317/.356 with six steals and a .672 OPS in 103 plate appearances at the big league level this season and should be back later this summer.
