Murphy will receive the $15.8-million qualifying offer once the postseason comes to a conclusion, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Murphy's historic postseason run, this really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. As reported by Heyman, the Mets are interested in bringing back Murphy, but it's unclear how much competing teams might be willing to pay the second baseman after his terrific play in the postseason. If the Mets ultimately lose out on the Yoenis Cespedes sweepstakes (early reports suggest the Cuban outfielder's next contract could exceed $150 million) they will likely push hard to re-sign their postseason hero.
