Morneau (neck) will start a rehab assignment at Double-A New Britain on Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Morneau, who has not played since May after suffering a concussion and neck sprain, is expected to remain on assignment for three days. He'll be re-evaluated Monday, and if all goes well over the weekend, he could finally be ready to make his return to Colorado for the final month of the season.
