Moreland (ankle) agreed to a one-year, $2.95 million contract with the Rangers on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. Reconstructive ankle surgery in mid-June ended Moreland's 2014 campaign, but the 29-year-old was cleared for a progressive running program last month and is expected to enter spring training without restriction. Moreland appears penciled in as the team's primary DH option heading into 2015, though he could lose out on at-bats against left-handed pitching (.227/.289/.347 vs LHP for career).
