McGee agreed to a one-year, $4.8 million deal with the Rays on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGee missed the early part of last season to recover from arthroscopic elbow surgery, allowing Brad Boxberger to to lock down the closing role in Tampa Bay. After returning to the mound, McGee suffered a knee injury that shelved him for over a month late in the season. Boxberger will likely start the year as the team's closer, but McGee will be a viable candidate to take over if Boxberger fails to repeat his 2015 form.
