Markakis agreed to a four-year contract with the Braves on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports. The deal, said to be worth in the neighborhood of $44 million, will bring Markakis to the NL after nearly a decade in Baltimore. Markakis owns a career .358 OBP and will give the Braves a quality leadoff option for years to come, something they've been desperately lacking in recent seasons, as well as a highly durable right fielder. Markakis has played in 147-plus games in all but one of his nine seasons in the majors. This may very well prove to be a precursor to a Justin Upton trade, something that's been rumored throughout the offseason.
