Mariners designated OF Jason Bay for assignment. Bay entered play Monday sporting a .204/.298/.393 batting line in 236 plate appearances with Seattle. He has displayed some power this year, but the Mariners grew tired of the inconsistency. Bay, 34, signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the M's in early December.
