Manager Ryne Sandberg said Diekman will return to the Phillies "as soon as possible," the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The Phillies optioned Diekman to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday. They want him to work on commanding his pitches and throwing inside more to lefthanded hitters before they bring him back to the majors. It sounds like he could be back up in short order if he finds immediate success in the minors.
