Manager Bruce Bochy said that Aoki will get the first shot to replace Hunter Pence (forearm) in right field, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Aoki was expected to be the everyday left fielder for his new club come Opening Day, but with the injury to Pence he will be asked to play right field, where he spent most of his time playing in Kansas City. The Giants have been using him atop the lineup during spring training, which would boost his run scoring opportunities if that sticks once the season starts.
