Lewis was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday and is expected to miss up to two months with a strained lat muscle, MLB.com's TR Sullivan reports.
EDGE Analysis
He won't throw for four weeks and may not be able to rejoin the rotation until late August. The lat is where the shoulder meets the back, so this is fairly serious for a starting pitcher. He will get another MRI in four weeks before embarking on a throwing program. Lewis joins Derek Holland and Yu Darvish on the DL, as the Rangers are left scrambling trying to piece together a big-league caliber rotation in the short term. It is unclear who will replace Lewis in the rotation at this time, but they could look to address their need via trade.
