Kipnis (back) was held out of action for the second consecutive day Friday but hopes to return Saturday, MLB.com reports. "I'd say he's tentative [for Saturday] and I'd bet you it'll be the next day," manager Terry Francona said. "We'll see. We'll see how he does." Kipnis tweaked his back while swinging in the batting cage Thursday but this doesn't figure to be anything that will impact his readiness for the start of the season if he can get back this weekend.
