Jim Hoey has retired from baseball. Hoey was hoping to make a comeback in 2014 after spending the majority of the 2013 season in independent ball, but he did not attract any offers. The 31-year-old right-hander will hang up his cleats with a 7.02 ERA and 1.847 WHIP in 61 career major league appearances. He last appeared in the bigs in 2011 with the Twins.
