Hosmer went 1-for-5 with a ninth-inning go-ahead three-run homer in Saturday's 7-4 victory over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
After a largely miserable performance in which he struck out three times, Hosmer stepped up when it counted most, blasting a 399-foot shot to right off perennial All-Star closer Francisco Rodriguez that plated Paulo Orlando and Cheslor Cuthbert in the ninth to snap a 4-4 tie. The round-tripper was Hosmer's first in nearly two weeks, with his last homer having come on Sep. 11. The 26-year-old has cooled off considerably since a hot start to the season, but his 23 homers and 100 RBI are both career highs.
