Happ (14-3) throughly stymied the Orioles in Saturday's 9-1 victory, recording 11 strikeouts and giving up just an earned run on three hits and three walks over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Outside of a second-inning solo homer that he surrendered to Pedro Alvarez, the veteran was nearly unhittable. He threw 69 of 101 pitches for strikes, with a whopping 19 of those coming on swings-and-misses. The 11 whiffs equaled a season high, and also represented the second time in July that Happ has reached that total. The 33-year-old put together his best month of what has been a career season, going 4-0, surrendering only five earned runs, and notching 42 strikeouts in 31.1 innings over five starts. The 14 victories are already a career high, and he'll try to build on that number when he takes on the Astros next Thursday.
