GM Dave Dombrowski expects Sandoval (shoulder) to be healthy when spring training begins next year, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval's shoulder injury sidelined him for all but three games in 2016, but the setback is not expected to linger into next season at this time. While Sandoval should be healthy next spring and will be due $17.6 million in 2017, Dombrowski indicated that he will have to compete for the starting third-base job against a group of players that includes at least Yoan Moncada, Travis Shaw, and Brock Holt.
