General manager Matt Silverman indicated Wednesday Ramirez will be on the Opening day roster, and said he will pitch in "meaningful innings," possibly as a starter. Ramirez was traded to the Rays on Tuesday to provide some extra depth in the rotation. However, with the impending return of Alex Cobb and Drew Smyly, it's unclear how long his run in that role will continue. It's possible he will move to the bullpen upon their return, but it's also possible he will remain in the rotation. If latter is the case, it would add a slight amount of value to the 24-year-old this season.
