Gallardo (2-0) allowed four runs, nine hits and two walks while striking out two and not factoring in the decision against the Rangers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo navigated himself well through six innings against his former team, but the wheels quickly came off in the seventh. Leading 4-2, the native of Mexico walked the leadoff hitter before promptly giving up a double that put men on second and third and brought the go-ahead run to the plate with no outs. Gallardo was relieved before any more damage could be done, but the bullpen crumbled, allowing the Rangers to score six in the frame and eventually go on to win the game 8-4. The 30-year-old righty may look enticing at 2-0, but his 5.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP tell a more truthful story than his record.
