Franklin has been practicing at first base and could become a starter there against right-handed starters until James Loney (finger) returns, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Franklin figured to see a decent amount of starts at second base when Logan Forsythe was supposedly moved to first, but Forsythe's quick move back to second left Franklin without a clear starting spot. He'll join a list of career middle infielders the Rays have tried at first in the last month, which at this point includes, Forsythe, Jake Elmore, and, at least in one plan, Tim Beckham. Adding another position theoretically increases Franklin's value, but not likely enough to make him truly significant in fantasy.
