Flowers is out of the lineup Thursday against the Royals. Manager Robin Ventura has been managing Flowers' workload fairly carefully in September, often having him alternate starts with Josh Phegley. That will again be the case Thursday, with Phegley stepping in to catch for starting pitcher Jose Quintana.
