Fister and the Nationals avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $11.4 million contract Friday, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports. Fister will receive more than he made the last two years combined in his final arbitration-eligible season. He got a little lucky last season, posting a 2.41 ERA despite owning a 3.93 FIP, but he also won 16 of his 25 starts and did an excellent job keeping runners off the basepaths. He slots in as the third starter in a talented Washington rotation.
