Eric Stults struck out a career-high 12 while pitching eight innings of one-run ball against the Mariners on Wednesday. The 12 strikeouts was so out of character for Stults that you have to go back to 2007 to find the last time he amassed that many between any two consecutive starts. He fanned seven batters in his first start of this year, but his next high total was five and he struck out just two in 6 1/3 innings last time out. In other words, don't expect much more of this from Stults. He's just a spot starter in NL-only leagues.
