Encarnacion (back) returned to the lineup on Thursday and looks as if he'll be ready to play on Opening Day, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Encarnacion's back could be a big issue that plagues both him and the Blue Jays lineup throughout the year. Originally scheduled to play first base full-time, a balky back could force him into playing designated hitter more often. With Justin Smoak's improvement at the plate this season, coupled with his strong defensive skills, it could move Encarnacion to DH, leaving Dioneer Navarro as the potential odd man out. With first base eligibility no matter what, Encarnacion should still be a good source of power as he attempts to play more than 150 games for the second time in his career.
