Davis (quadriceps) is out of the lineup Friday against the White Sox. Davis strained his left quad muscle during Monday's game, and with three opposing lefties conveniently due up Wednesday through Saturday, the decision was made to give Davis an extended rest. It's no lock that Davis will return Sunday to face right-hander Jeff Samardzija, but he appears safe from the DL.
