Cubs claimed OF Thomas Neal off waivers from the Yankees. Neal was designated for assignment by New York last week to clear a 40-man roster spot for Curtis Granderson, who was returning from the disabled list. Neal was batting .307/.368/.401 with two homers and two steals in 72 games this season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
