Cotton (2-0) tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Rangers, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Cotton cruised after Oakland spotted him seven runs in the second, keeping Texas off the board until Adrian Beltre homered with two outs in the seventh. He probably could have gone the distance, but manager Bob Melvin played it safe with the big lead and took him out after only 70 pitches. The 24-year-old has been exceptional over his first four major league starts, allowing one run in each while issuing only three walks. He doesn't have overpowering stuff, as evidenced by his 5.8 K/9, but he's compensated by limiting mistakes and allowing just 5.0 H/9. He'll look to to maintain his recent success in Saturday's road start against the Mariners.
