Colvin has elected free agency, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Things went downhill quickly for Colvin after a strong month of May (.851 OPS), and he was ultimately designated for assignment in early August. A .239/.287/.446 career hitter at the major league level, Colvin figures to draw some interest as a lefty bench bat, but he'll likely have to settle for another minor league deal.
