Chacin (shoulder) will make his Cactus League debut Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. The starting appointment would seem to suggest that Chacin is fully recovered from the strained rotator cuff that ended his 2014 campaign prematurely. Chacin never seemed comfortable during any of his 11 starts before being shut down, so the 5.40 ERA and 1.43 WHIP he posted don't necessarily foretell a permanent decline for the right-hander. The Rockies are wagering that a healthier Chacin will be able to return to his 2013 performance levels, when he found success through his abilities to find the strike zone with consistency and generate groundballs at a steady clip.
