Cervelli played the ninth inning of Sunday's game at first base after serving as the team's starting catcher for the first eight innings.
EDGE Analysis
The Bucs' starting backstop entered Sunday with five career games at first base -- he last played the position for the Yankees in 2014. Cervelli has just two extra-base hits to his credit, including a double and triple, but he's batting .342 in 38 at-bats. With prospect Elias Diaz battling an elbow injury which could lead to Tommy John surgery, the Pirates may consider giving Cervelli -- a free agent at year's end -- an extension the 30-year-old desires.
