Casilla blew his seventh save of the season Sunday, surrendering a run on two hits and a walk in an eventual 3-2 loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Casilla appears to be in one of his patented cold spells, surrendering five runs over his last 6.2 innings of work, blowing two saves in the process. This rough patch follows a streak of eight scoreless innings, so owners got to see the best and worst of the veteran closer over the past month or so. Casilla is one of the more volatile closing options in the game, but the overall results haven't been all that bad when you look at his 3.28 ERA and 30 total saves. Manager Bruce Bochy has stuck with his closer through his up-and-downs and that likely won't change down the stretch.
