Cain (elbow) will not appear in exhibition games until mid-March, Chris Haft of MLB.com reports. After Cain completed another bullpen session Thursday, it was reported that he was penciled into the rotation for the start of Cactus League play. However, the team has evidently reversed course, with manager Bruce Bochy saying Saturday that he figures Cain can prepare for the regular season better on his own. It's somewhat odd, but the skipper insisted that nothing is wrong with Cain's elbow and that he will open the regular season on time.
