Cabrera (ankle) will play first base in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports. Cabrera's spring debut at first base wasn't expected to come until Thursday, but with the 31-year-old noticing improvement in his condition over the last few days, the Tigers elected to move him up a day. There was already plenty of optimism regarding Cabrera's availability for Opening Day after he was already able to serve as the team's designated hitter for two games, and his return to the field Wednesday should only further aid his chances.
